Rolando Maran felt Chievo gave “a positive response” at San Siro, but ultimately paid for mistakes in a 3-2 defeat to Milan.
The Flying Donkeys had been able to turn it around with two goals in quick succession going into half-time, but were beaten by Patrick Cutrone and Andre Silva strikes.
“I am not satisfied with the result, but I did ask the lads to start a new season today and we did put in the performance I wanted, so I think we’re on the right track,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“We overcame some difficulties and obviously there are still areas where we must improve. I saw signs of my Chievo, though it’s not easy against Milan in this form. I got a positive response from my team.
“When Andre Silva came on, Milan were already pushing hard and we readjusted well tactically. We had the chances on the counter-attack and should’ve made more of them.
“Mistakes can happen, but against Milan you are going to pay for them. We have to take the positives from this performance, such as the great Roberto Inglese goal and his overall contribution to the team.”
