Ballardini: 'Genoa courage with Napoli'

Genoa boss Davide Ballardini was pleased that they managed to cause Napoli so many problems in a slender 1-0 defeat.

It took a Raul Albiol header from a corner to break down the Grifone 72 minutes in at the Stadio San Paolo.

“It’s not easy for anyone to come to the San Paolo and have five or six chances. We conceded on a corner, we had the right overall approach, but if you are not concentrated for 90 minutes, you will concede,” Ballardini told Mediaset Premium.

“We’ve had many good performances and good results, so we build on this and move forward. I really liked the way Genoa played and we had the right attitude, playing with courage.

“There are moments when we ought to be even more courageous, but we have the quality and hard work to do great things.”

This came a week after another 1-0 defeat to Milan, as Genoa push big clubs all the way.

“At times we weren’t particularly inferior to Napoli tonight. We won’t be facing Napoli or Milan every week, fortunately. I didn’t see a good Napoli performance and I think that’s because we prevented them from playing their usual game.”
