Milan striker Patrick Cutrone has vowed to ‘give my all’ to the Italy squad after admitting he ‘didn’t believe’ his call-up.

Cutrone scored his 15th goal of the season during Milan’s 3-2 victory over Chievo on Sunday, barely 24 hours after he was named in Luigi Di Biagio’s first Italy squad.

“It was crucial to win and even better with a goal I scored!” the youngster told Milan TV.

“Now we need to stay on this path. It was a crucial game, we needed the three points. I only think about working and training hard. I want to improve and I try to go wherever the ball goes.

“Credit to Gattuso? It goes to him and all his staff. We train well and we’re showing ourselves to be a unit.

“Italy debut? It’ll be very exciting. I didn’t expect it, I’d seen the Under-21 squad and I didn’t believe it. I’ll give [the seniors] my all too.”
