Andrea Conti’s agent reveals the Milan full-back “had moments of shock and panic” when he thought it was another ACL tear and his season is effectively over.

The former Atalanta man was on the verge of his comeback after anterior cruciate ligament surgery in September 2017 when he sprained the same knee in training.

“We had some moments of shock and panic. At first we thought it was the anterior cruciate ligament again, which would’ve just destroyed us. It would’ve been a huge blow,” agent Mario Giuffredi told Radio Rossonera.

“He is shaken still, as he was given a big scare. When eh found out there was no ligament damage, he recovered a little and has started work to get back in shape.

“There is so little left in the current campaign, he is thinking more about the next season. There’s just not enough time, you can’t rush the recovery process after three months to play three games.

“Andrea’s desire to return was so strong, but at times you need patience and to focus on the important things. It’ll be a shame missing the rest of the season, but he has four years on his contract with Milan and must look at the big picture.

“It’s a pity, as he played 60 minutes with the youth team a few days ago and said he expected to struggle more in that match. The time has come for him to realise that taking a month more to reach 100 per cent is what the fans want more than this desperation to return.”
