Monchi assures Alisson will stay at Roma this summer, explains why Patrik Schick is like Dani Alves and admits Mohamed Salah had to be sold.

Alisson’s performances have reportedly caught the eye of Real Madrid, while Schick has endured a slow start to his Roma spell – despite arriving for a club-record fee – and Salah has gone on to score over 30 goals for Liverpool, making his €42m transfer fee seem low.

“I can’t say Alisson will stay at Roma for 30 years,” the sporting director was quoted as saying by CalcioNews24.

“If I think of a shorter future, I’d say ‘yes’. He’ll stay with us next season because we don’t need to sell him.

“We haven’t sold anyone yet and we haven’t received any offers, although we’ll listen to them if they arrive because that’s what a sporting director does.

“The President is putting a lot of money in and will continue to do so, but while respecting the rules. We have to fix the budget. The new stadium will be a positive step for the future.

“Rome a violent city? No. The strength of Rome is the brand: when I call and I say I’m Roma’s sporting director, the doors open.

“Schick? Dani Alves was a normal player at Sevilla for a year and a half. Salah? We had to sell him by June 30.

“The sale happened before the Neymar effect, which revolutionised the market. We made an important sale, otherwise Baldissoni and I would’ve been stupid.”
