“You must always be wide awake and use every opportunity you can find to help your team and I want to thank the ball boy who gave the ball back so rapidly,” Perisic told Inter TV.

“I always tell Mauro not to turn his back to me, because he can never know what I’m up to otherwise. I set up another goal like that last season and strikers must always be ready to go.”

It’s perhaps no surprise Perisic provides such accurate throw-ins, as he also has a passion for playing volleyball in his spare time.

“I do love sport with my hands too and that’s why I try to make the most of every opportunity. We did well, scored three goals and must continue like this. Hopefully our luck will still be in against Milan on Wednesday.

“The derby will be tough, but we are ready and fired up. We’ve worked very hard over the last few weeks, changing our tactics and you can tell the ball moves much quicker now.”
