Davide Ballardini won’t discuss his contract until Genoa have secured their Serie A safety, which is a step closer after a draw with Sampdoria.

The Grifone managed to avoid losing a fourth consecutive meeting with their city rivals and kept a clean sheet.

The Grifone managed to avoid losing a fourth consecutive meeting with their city rivals and kept a clean sheet.

“Genoa were organised and we could’ve done better going forward, but were a little too timid,” confessed the Coach on Mediaset Premium.

“We played with humility and concentration against a side that has worked together for a long time, so I compliment everyone involved.

“We could’ve been more dangerous in attack and there were favourable situations that we didn’t develop properly.”

Ballardini has turned their campaign around after taking over from Ivan Juric, so did he expect to already have a contract for next season lined up?

“We must secure our safety first. Up until that moment, nothing else matters to me. I think it’ll take around 40 points to be safe, because the teams behind us are starting to get important results. SPAL drew with Juventus and today Atalanta. I never would’ve thought Sassuolo, Cagliari and Chievo would be in the battle against relegation.”
