Cagliari have officially sacked sporting director Giovanni Rossi with immediate effect.
Rossi only joined Cagliari last summer, on the back of helping establish Sassuolo in Serie A.
Despite orchestrating lucrative deals for the likes of Luca Cigarini, Leonardo Pavoletti and Leandro Castan, the Sardinians have endured another season of struggle, finding themselves down in 16th, just two points clear of the relegation places.

It also comes a day after Coach Diego Lopez confirmed his team would go ‘in ritiro’ – an Italian tradition of going on a training camp when results are not going well – in a bid to turn around their fortunes.
