Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali admits Domenico Berardi “is no longer what he was in recent years”.
The forward was co-owned by Juventus until 2015, and was coveted by all of Serie A’s leading lights.
However, he has scored just 14 goals in the last three seasons, and has struggled with a knee problem.
“It’s pointless hiding it, Berardi is no longer what he was in recent years,” Carnevali declared on Radio Sportiva.
“Everything depends on him, lots of things can happen in the course of a season like a change of formation or Coach, but if Berardi wants to be a top-level player he needs to get used to these kinds of situations.
“He needs to try to find his dimension and decide what he wants to do.”
