Cagliari have announced that Marcello Carli has been appointed as their new sporting director, replacing Giovanni Rossi.
It was announced yesterday that Rossi had been sacked with immediate effect, with the Isolani just two points above the relegation zone.
“Cagliari Calcio announces that it has entrusted the role of sporting director to Marcello Carli,” a statement on the Sardinians’ website reads.

“The new Rossoblu DS, 54, worked at Empoli last season where – after a past as a player – he built his career as a director.
