Gianluigi Buffon’s agent claims the goalkeeeper was all set to join Barcelona, until Juventus ‘woke up and Gigi didn’t think twice.’

Buffon became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper in 2001, when he left Parma for Juve in a €52m deal, but Silvino Martina claims life could have been very different for the Italy veteran.

“Barca looked to have bought Buffon, they had an agreement with Parma,” he told AS.

“Barca looked to have bought Buffon, they had an agreement with Parma,” he told AS.

“After that, Juve woke up and Gigi didn’t think twice. We also had a meeting with Bronzetti, a close friend of Florentino Perez, after the Juve-Real game in 2005.

“Madrid were interested, but it didn’t amount to any real negotiations.”
