Italy fall to worst-ever world ranking

Italy have fallen six places in the latest FIFA rankings, to an all-time worst position of 20th.

The Azzurri failed to qualify for this summer’s World Cup, going out to Sweden in a play-off after finishing behind Spain in their group.

The March friendlies brought a loss to Argentina and a draw with England, and the national team continues to slide down the FIFA rankings.

Italy are now in 20th position in the rankings, the lowest they’ve been since the system was introduced.

Tunisia, Denmark and Peru are all ranked above the Azzurri, with Wales and Iceland in 21st and 22nd position respectively.

Germany remain top of the FIFA world rankings, with Brazil still second.

Haiti were the biggest fallers in the latest rankings, dropping 23 places to 108th, while Kyrgyzstan climbed 40 places to 75th.
