The Sardinians fought back to beat Udinese 2-1 after an early Kevin Lasagna opener, as Leonardo Pavoletti and Luca Ceppitelli got their heads to set plays.

“It’s an important victory for us, but we know it isn’t over and we must continue climbing the table,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We spent the last few days together on a training retreat to prepare for this match. When you’re fighting for Serie A safety, you know games like this can make the difference with every detail.

“We did well to turn it around, because fear could’ve set in, but the crowd gave us strength. I am glad we were able to repay them with a victory.

“We’ve got to play with heart, determination and concentration. We knew that we had to give more and play with our minds as well as our feet.”

Cagliari take on Inter in the midweek round on Tuesday, but Luca Cigarini and Niccolò Barella will be suspended.

“Cigarini would’ve rested anyway, as it’s difficult for him to play two games so close together after such a long time out. Barella had this yellow card hanging over him for two or three months, so it had to come sooner or later.”
