“It’s not enough to play well, as at this stage of the season we have to get three points. We’ve all got to work harder, from the defenders to the strikers.

“This simply isn’t enough, in order to get back into the Champions League we need to do more.”

Miranda had cramp at one point and Andrea Ranocchia was ready to come on, but that’s partly because Atalanta forward Papu Gomez jokingly urged the Inter staff to substitute him.

“He wanted me to go off because I was doing well, but on the bench they weren’t paying much attention.”
