Roma President Jim Pallotta assured they are targeting the Champions League Final and there is “no way” Alisson Becker will be sold.
The American patron will fly back to Boston in the morning after he attended the Champions League victory over Barcelona and tonight’s Derby della Capitale.
“It was a tough week after the game with Barcelona and we are a bit disappointed tonight. We mustn’t just think about the semi-final with Liverpool, but the other matches too,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“Why can’t we reach the Final? Liverpool are a strong team, but we can play well too. It’s practically a derby in Boston!
“Nobody should be surprised at Roma in Europe, because we won the group ahead of Chelsea, we beat Shakhtar and played well even in the first leg in Barcelona. The first leg result didn’t reflect what we saw on the field and we proved that in the return match.”
Pallotta visited the squad in the locker room this morning to give a pep talk, but wouldn’t reveal what he said.
“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. It’s the same for the locker room.”
Among the reasons for Roma’s success this season is goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who is wanted by Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
“I don’t understand why people keep asking me if Alisson will be our goalkeeper next season. We have no intention of selling him. No chance.
“We thought he was a great goalkeeper when we signed him and there is no way we are selling.”
Pallotta celebrated the victory over Barcelona by diving into a fountain, earning him a fine when he met up with Mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi to discuss the stadium project.
“We talked more than anything else about money. She fined me, I have to give the Mayor €240,000. And the water was cold…”
How will he celebrate if the Giallorossi beat Liverpool in the semi-final?
“There are many fountains in Rome. I could even go to the Colosseum.”
