Lucas Torreira’s agent confirms “an official offer” from Napoli, but Sampdoria want to wait to see if they can get more than the €25m release clause.
The midfielder has been heavily linked with a summer move to the Partenopei, and his release clause makes him a relatively cheap option in the current market.
“Napoli made an official offer, but I told them we have to wait,” Pablo Bentancur told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Lucas has a €25m release clause but if Sampdoria have the chance to get more money and we can make the right choice jointly, then we’ll work together.
“[President Massimo] Ferrero is a strategist, he’s no fool. We’ve decided to wait.
“The lad is only thinking about the national team and Sampdoria, he’s a great professional. I’ve followed his whole career and he’s a lad who lives for football.
“We’ve talked with Napoli and negations are open. I asked for time and if they don’t want to give it and talk to someone else, well… patience.
“The lad must find the ideal solution, beyond the release clause. What counts is finding the right team for his growth path.”
