The controversy over the last-gasp penalty awarded to Real Madrid in the quarter-final continues to rumble on, particularly with regards to the Juventus captain.

“I think his comments were evaluated in a manner that was too partisan, both on one side and the other,” said Italian Olympic Committee chief Malagò.

“It’s not automatic that you should support everything Buffon says if you are a Juventus fan, nor that you condemn him for everything if you are the fan of another team.

“I will say quite frankly, I am in favour of using technology at the highest level of football. Some might say it ruins football, but I’ve seen it applied in so many other sports, from rugby to basketball and volleyball, an infinite list of disciplines and team sports where thanks to technology we simply no longer have this sort of controversy.”

Sticking to football, Malagò also pointed out the Federation needs to start taking action on the new Italy Coach.

“The time has come to evaluate who will be the new CT, as he’ll have to build the future course of the squad.”

The FIGC has said it’ll reveal the new boss on May 20.
