Eusebio Di Francesco is set to take on SPAL with Maxime Gonalons, whom the Roma boss ‘rates very highly’, despite his below-par performances.

Roma looked to have pulled off a steal with their €5m capture of Gonalons last summer, but the former Olympique Lyonnais midfielder has failed to convince in his 16 appearances for the Giallorossi.

“They’re an organised team, who give little away,” said the Coach at a Press conference for Saturday’s Serie A game.

“It won’t be an easy game. The heat will also count for something, so it’ll be a delicate game in every sense.

“Liverpool? I’m focused on SPAL, and we can’t go wrong against them. We must try to pick up as many points as possible.

Lazio have great character, the same applies to Inter, who are growing. It’ll be an intense end to the season.”

Di Francesco then shed light on who would and would not be making the trip to Ferrara.

“Kolarov will stay behind because he’s tired,” continued the former Sassuolo boss.

“Perotti will return, while it’ll be [Jonathan] Silva or Luca Pellegrini on the left, the former being the favourite.

“Up top, it’ll be Dzeko or Schick. I’ll talk to Edin tonight and then make a decision, but I see him fired up for this one.

“Midfield? Gonalons could be put back in. His involvement has never been in question and he’s only missing a flicker, but I rate him very highly.

“Liverpool-Roma sell-out? It means we achieved something, but we mustn’t stop there.”
