“I think we are stronger now than we were at the start of the season,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

They remain in joint third place with Roma, one point ahead of Inter, after Wednesday night’s spectacular 4-3 victory at Fiorentina.

“It was a great performance in Florence and we deserved the win, now we must continue with that attitude for the remaining five matches.

“Marco Parolo and Senad Lulic have a few issues, but they want to be there. Everyone is called up except Patric and the two suspended players, Luis Alberto and Alessandro Murgia.

“This team has shown heart and soul for the jersey and I hope to see the Stadio Olimpico crowd reflecting that with their support, because this side deserves it.

“We’ve got to be much more concentrated and not allow in so many goals, especially as Sampdoria have some very talented forwards.

“We only allowed Roma a few chances in the final minutes of the derby after we went down to 10 men.

“At this moment, Inter, Roma and Lazio are on the same level. We’ve all had an excellent run of results. Now there are five finals coming up.

“Serie A is one of the only leagues where the title race is still open, while it’s in the balance for the Champions League and Europa League places too.

“At the start of the season, a Champions League place was unthinkable, but you don’t stay in the running after 33 rounds by accident. We worked from the start with the objective to do our best in every tournament.

“We’ve played 50 games this term at a high level, there are five remaining. It’s the last sprint and we’ll see who finishes out in front.”

Luis Alberto is suspended, but Inzaghi is not tempted to change his tactics against Sampdoria.

“I have the right players for a 3-5-2 system. It’s easy to go from being praised to criticised when you’re a Coach, but systems aside, I thank the players who over these 50 games have given absolutely everything and gone beyond their limits.”
