Piero Ausilio admits Inter can only keep Joao Cancelo if they qualify for the Champions League.

Cancelo has grown into one of Inter’s most important players after an injury-hit start to his loan spell from Valencia, but the Nerazzurri must shell out €35m to purchase the right-back.

“Karamoh? He’s a young lad and needed more time than others to impose himself,” the sporting director told Radio Anch’io Sport.

“He did very well in France and we did well to sign him at a low cost. Now we’re seeing the results, which we all thought could come.

“Dalbert? If he’s not playing, it’s because of how well Cancelo and D’Ambrosio are playing.

“There are two places and someone must stay out. To prove how valuable he is, we’ve had enquiries for him from so many clubs.

“Spalletti and Icardi? The Champions League won’t determine whether they’ll sign new contracts.

“We want to build an even longer future with them than what their contracts entail. We’ve already renewed Icardi’s contract three times, and we can sit down and discuss it again.

“Transfers? I hope we fall within the parameters of Financial Fair Play, only sacrificing some young players like we did last year.

“It’s not been said that some big names must leave. For example, Perisic stayed last year, despite Manchester United’s enquiries.

“Obviously the Champions League would help from an economic point of view, but that alone doesn’t make a season positive.

“Asamoah? He’s a Juventus player and I’ll only talk about the market after May 21. Cancelo? We’ll make a decision on keeping him once the season is out, seeing whether we qualify for the Champions League or not.

“However, these are just economic assessments and not technical ones. There’s no doubt about the player’s quality.”
