Roma President James Pallotta has warned Liverpool to forget about signing Alisson. “He’s an important pillar we want to build with.”

Liverpool have long been linked with Alisson, who will keep goal for Roma against the Reds the Champions League semi-finals, but Pallotta made it clear the Giallorossi could afford to keep their No 1.

“Monchi? You can see his impact. We think the same way as each other and get angry at the same things,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Youngsters? We’ve changed our academy and one of the great surprises will be how much talent comes through in the next few years.

“We expect 3-4 to come through each year. The important thing is to have a good group of players who know how to play well as a team. One player isn’t enough.

“Alisson? I don’t have any intention of selling Alisson. I know that several clubs have said that they want him, Liverpool being one of them, but he has a contract with us.

“I’m sure some team will come up with a sack of money to sign him, but for now the decision lies with the Coach and Monchi, and we don’t want to sell him.

“He’s an important pillar, with whom we want to build. We want players like him. Sales? If we thought about selling Pjanic and Salah, it was because we didn’t have a choice.

“We didn’t suddenly say ‘we want to sell Pjanic’, it wasn’t like that.

“If I’d spent more time with him and if he’d said that he wanted to stay, I’d have tried to convince him to stay, although maybe we’d have sold him anyway.

“Salah wanted to go to test himself in the Premier League. We’ve sold a lot of players in recent seasons, but it’s not something I want us to do now.

“We’ve had some issues with FFP, and we must take that into account, but so many things will change if we get it sorted.

“Cengiz? I think players like Under will thrive with Totti’s support. He needs time: he’s young.

“He’s done some extraordinary things, but he must improve defensively. Still, he’s one of those who will stay with us for a long time.

“Schick? He’s had to fight off so many injuries and I think he’s found it frustrating, but he allowed Dzeko to show his talent with his performance against Barcelona.

“New stadium? Every month of delay costs us millions. We could’ve invested that money in other things, like players.

“It’s 65-70m that we could’ve spent differently. Decisions are being made, but they must be made soon.”
