“We are at a very difficult moment to control, as we want to achieve something important, but also need the balance to do it,” the director of sport told Mediaset Premium.

“From today’s training session, I saw the right mentality, as we know it’ll be decided over 180 minutes. That means you need to keep absolutely concentrated throughout.”

Monchi was asked if Cengiz Under represented the replacement for Mohamed Salah following his move to Liverpool.

“I don’t think it’s fair to compare them. Cengiz Under is a lad who is just starting to emerge in the world of football, whereas Momo is already affirmed. It’s a game between Liverpool and Roma, we must do everything on a collective level, the way we did against Barcelona.

“I love to fire the fans up via social media, as it’s good for them to see the team as part of them. The team benefits from that and if we have 2,500 fans here today, that’s a wonderful thing and they deserve our full attention.

“I’m sure I made errors along the way, but I had to find the right Monchi for the good of Roma and believe we are on the right track.”
