Mauro Icardi admits ‘I don’t know what the future holds’ but insists Inter ‘have always been my team’.
Icardi had been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid but ultimately stuck with Inter, scoring 26 goals for the Nerazzurri in their push for Champions League qualification this season.
“Hundred goals with Inter in Serie A? I’m happy to write myself into the history of a club like Inter,” the striker told Ole.
“It’s a source of pride for me and I could never have imagined it. It’s not easy to get these numbers in Italy, so I thank all my teammates who made it possible.
“How was it to become Inter’s captain so young? It was the result of my work at the club and my commitment.
“Champions League? Things didn’t go as we hoped before, but I’m always very optimistic and I’m sure Inter will soon be where they deserve to be.
“Transfer rumours? It’s always nice to be appreciated and I think it’s a consequence of my growth.
“This is why personal achievements are achieved and other big clubs appreciate you. Why I stayed? Inter have always been my team.
“When I was little, I always chose them on PlayStation. I always played as Inter. That’s why I enjoy playing here and chose to stay there.
“Madrid and Chelsea? I’m very calm and always focused on my objectives those of the team.
“I can’t predict the future. For this, I enjoy the present and always give my best. Do I play to stay at Inter? Like I told you, I don’t know what the future holds.
“My present is here. It’s where we have our home, our friends and our life.”
