The Swedish FA has officially confirmed that former Juventus, Inter and Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t play at the World Cup.
The nation’s all-time top-scorer had retired from international duty after Euro 2016, but there was speculation he could come back for the tournament in Russia.
However, Coach Janne Anderson said this week that he wouldn’t be calling him, and today it has been confirmed that Ibra won’t be at the World Cup.
“I talked to Zlatan on Tuesday,” team manager Lars Richt said in a statement on the SvFF’s official website.
“He announced that he hadn’t changed his mind about playing for the national team. It’s a no.”
