Reports in Italy state several Mexican clubs are interested in Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco.
The Italian international has been one of the best players in Major League Soccer since joining the Canadian franchise in 2015, with 69 goals in 115 appearances.
The former Juventus forward scored in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final last night, but the Reds ultimately lost on penalties to Guadalajara.
Giovinco’s contract expires in 2019 and he’s keen to open contract talks, but so far there has been no movement from Toronto.
“I already talk, but they said it’s not the moment,” Giovinco told the Toronto Sun this week.
“For them, that’s not a problem, for me it is a little bit. I want to know my future. I have family. I’m 31 years old.
“For what I do for the city, I think I deserve it, no? "I already said I want to stay here forever… If not, I have to think about other options.”
According to calciomercato.com he does have options, as several Mexican clubs have taken note of his performances in the CCL.
Giovinco scored against Chivas, Club America, Tigres and Guadalajara in the competition, and could earn big money in the Liga MX.
