Italian tactician Claudio Ranieri is criticised by Nantes fans for missing the club’s 75th anniversary dinner, but insists he couldn’t find parking.
The Coach was a no-show at the ceremony, sparking reports in the French media that he had disagreements with the club hierarchy and wanted to walk away.
“When I arrived at the venue for the ceremony, there were too many cars in the parking lot,” Ranieri told Le Figaro.
“It was impossible for me to find a space. At that point, I told the President that I wouldn’t make it to the ceremony.
“Later, I asked the driver to take me towards the Nantes airport, where I took a private plane to London, seeing as my apartment had a leaky ceiling due to heavy rain over the last few days.”
