Patrik Schick opened the scoring by meeting a Radja Nainggolan assist with the inside of the boot, then the hosts rattled the woodwork twice before Edin Dzeko made it 2-0 with a volley.

After the break, Juan Jesus saw red and gave away a penalty for his shirt tug on Roberto Inglese, but Alisson Becker parried the spot-kick.

Roma took full advantage and added another two goals in 120 seconds through Stephan El Shaarawy’s solo effort and a Dzeko curler from outside the box.

Inglese did eventually get a consolation goal for Chievo late on.
