Inter lost the Derby d'Italia to Juventus in dramatic fashion, but how did Luciano Spalletti's men fare in our player ratings?

Words: Ciro Di Brita @Ciruzzo36

Samir Handanovic – 6

Marvellous one handed save to stop Dybala’s free kick from going into the top corner but could only stand and watch as Cuadrado’s shot somehow crept past him. Couldn’t do much about Higuaín’s header either.

Joao Cancelo – 6.5

Samir Handanovic – 6

Marvellous one handed save to stop Dybala’s free kick from going into the top corner but could only stand and watch as Cuadrado’s shot somehow crept past him. Couldn’t do much about Higuaín’s header either.

Joao Cancelo – 6.5

Left Mandzukic alone on the back post when he gave up on a deep cross and that should have come as a warning to the Inter backline. They failed to heed it though, and Costa scored moments later from the exact same move. Much improved in the second half.

Milan Skriniar –7

A defensive colossus won all his one on ones and did his job exceptionally well. Was let down by teammates. and unlucky to score an own goal.

Miranda – 7

After claiming this week that he is the best defender in Serie A he had to put in a good showing and he did, neither him nor Skriniar can be blamed for the three Juve goals.

Danilo D’Ambrosio –6

Booked for something he said to Orsato when the ref refused to give Pjanic a deserved second yellow. Was solid in enough in defending.

Matias Vecino – 4

Came in for his first start since February and was sent off for a nasty challenge on Mandzukic that was awarded with help from VAR.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6.5

Ran himself into the ground making up for his side being a man down. Was booked for kicking the ball away.

Antonio Candreva – 5

Poor attempt at defending on Douglas Costa’s goal and had another frustrating night of over hit passes and dribbles down dark alleys.

Rafinha – 6

Out muscled and outclassed in the midfield in the first half, but then a completely different player came out in the second and he received a standing ovation from the San Siro crowd when substituted.

Ivan Perisic – 6

Set up Inter’s second goal by squaring a perfect cross that Barzagli bundled over his own line. Got tired towards the end and made plenty of mistakes.

Mauro Icardi –7

Headed home the equaliser from a Cancelo free kick and worked his socks off in keeping his side pushing forward. Things went wrong for Inter when he came off.

Substitutes:

Borja Valero – 5

Replaced the exhausted Rafinha for the last 10 mins but if Inter needed fresh legs he certainly didn’t provide it.

Davide Santon – 4

Came on for Icardi to help shore up the defence but instead sunk the ship as Spalletti’s substitutions backfired on him.

Yann Karamoh – N/A

Youngster should have started the game or at least been brought on earlier when Juve were rocked and struggling.
