The Azzurri have been without a permanent boss since the sacking of Giampiero Ventura after failure to qualify for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Ancelotti, who left his most recent position at Bayern Munich last September, has been in talks with the Italian football association (FIGC) over the course of the last week.

However, Corriere dello Sport claim that despite being offered the job and taking a few days to mull over his decision, the 58-year-old has now decided against taking up the role.

Recent reports around Europe have linked Ancelotti with the soon-to-be-vacant position as Arsenal manager, with Arsene Wenger set to step down at the end of the season.

According to Corriere, the frontrunners for the Azzurri job are now Roberto Mancini and Claudio Ranieri.

Mancini, currently in charge of Russian club Zenit St Petersburg, has won League titles in both Italyand England.

Ranieri, who famously led LeicesterCityto their improbable Premier League triumph in 2016, is Coach of French Ligue 1 side Nantes.
