Cagliari are reportedly weighing up whether to sack Diego Lopez, with the side in freefall.

According to Il Messaggero, Cagliari feel a change may give them the ‘shock’ they need, despite President Tommaso Giulini affirming the club would stick with Lopez ‘no matter what’.

The problem, however, lies with who would replace the Uruguayan as Giulini can only bring back sacked Coach Massimo Rastelli, promote former assistant and ex-Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie or fast-track youth chief Mario Beretta.

In the meantime, the Sardinians are expected to go ‘in ritiro’ this weekend, having lost their fourth straight game on Sunday against Sampdoria, which left them just two points and two places clear of Serie A’s relegation zone.
