Arsenal have already suggested that Wenger’s heir will not have the same level of authority as the Frenchman, with the club recently appointing a head of recruitment in former Borussia Dortmund man Sven Mislintat.

Mislintat joins Raul Sanllehi, who has arrived from Barcelona to act as head of football relations, chief executive Ivan Gazidis and non-executive director Josh Kroenke, son of owner Stan and thought to hold a growing influence at the Emirates Stadium.
