It’s reported that Roberto Mancini has an agreement to be Italy CT, accepting a pay cut to take the job.

The Zenit St Petersburg Coach has already held talks over the role, but the budget for the new Azzurri boss and his staff is €5m, the same amount he himself earns in Russia.

However, today’s Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Mancio has agreed a €2m net salary, with his staff to be discussed at a later date.

Despite that, Mancini’s appointment is not yet confirmed.

Zenit are not keen to let him go, while the FIGC doesn’t want to pay any compensation to get him out of his contract.

There is nothing to prevent Mancini resigning and agreeing a deal with Italy, but the Russian club could take the case to FIFA.

To avoid that the Federation could pay some compensation, as if FIFA determine that the Coach broke his contract “without just cause” there could be damages added to any compensation.

Gazzetta also reports that Mancini wants to bring back Mario Balotelli, and will ask Gigi Buffon to play against the Netherlands for a farewell appearance.
