“This will be the opportunity to salute the fans, who were our 12th man for the whole season,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We’re facing a team that has given lustre to Italian football and break beyond the national confines with the quality of football played. It’ll be a chance to take on the side that played the most beautiful football.

“Napoli’s approach is made of ideas and forward-thinking football that has been developed with its own qualities. Sampdoria tried to do the same thing, at times it worked, at others it didn’t, but you could say that Samp never sat back.”

Giampaolo replaced Maurizio Sarri at Empoli and has been tipped to take over at Napoli this summer.

“I have already said that the only President who calls me is Massimo Ferrero. We’ll see what happens.

“Napoli are one point away from their all-time Serie A club record. Knowing Sarri, they won’t let anything go. I expect the usual attack-minded Napoli that will turn up to Marassi seeking a result.

“We’ve got to give everything we have too. There was disappointment after the defeat to Sassuolo, but we have to honour the campaign and cannot have the wrong attitude.”

Native Neapolitan Fabio Quagliarella is out of action along with Nicola Murru, but Duvan Zapata and Gianluca Caprari have fully recovered.
