It’s reported Giampiero Ventura has terminated his contract with the FIGC by mutual consent, paving the way for Roberto Mancini.
The Coach was still under contract until June 2018, despite being fired in November after Italy lost the World Cup play-offs to Sweden.
He had refused to resign and was therefore sacked, but continued to accept his salary.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ventura has today terminated the deal by mutual consent.
This paves the way for Mancini to sign next week, as he is expected to end his contract with Zenit St Petersburg on Monday.
It also frees Ventura to start negotiating for another job at club level, as he has been linked with Cagliari.
