Iachini: 'Inter, eat your words!'

Beppe Iachini reveals Inter and the media inadvertently motivated Sassuolo by showing “a lack of respect and being downright offensive.”

There were reports during the week that the Nerazzurri would try to not only win, but do so with a six-goal margin to level out the goal difference with Lazio ahead of next week’s showdown for fourth place.

Instead, the minnows conquered San Siro 2-1 and left those Champions League dreams in tatters.

“Of course they motivated us,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“There was a lack of respect and we read some things that were downright offensive. Whoever wrote that should eat their words, because we are professionals and take our jobs seriously.

“In football we must stop with this rubbish, because we do our duty to the end of the season. We’ve lost only one of our last 11 games, finding confidence and balance. We played our game.

“We worked so hard to get back up the table and secure our Serie A status. Having the lads applaud my staff in the locker room was moving.

“We’ll talk about my future at the end of the season, as I’ve been happy here, but there’s no guarantee I am staying.”
