“I think we reacted and it wasn’t easy coming to Bergamo, as Atalanta are a very strong side,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.
“There are regrets, as a win would’ve sealed it today, but we showed a lot of character and it wasn’t easy to put in this kind of performance.”
Milan were fatigued after Wednesday’s 4-0 Coppa Italia Final defeat to Juventus and Gigio Donnarumma again was shaky on the Atalanta goal.
“Let’s not always put the blame on him. I don’t think it was a mistake. It was a powerful header from close range. Gigio has to stay calm, he is 19 years old and gets judged for the money he earns, but you don’t buy experience at a supermarket. Errors are part of the game.”
Nikola Kalinic was chosen to start in attack rather than Patrick Cutrone or Andre Silva, but again made little impact.
“We’ll evaluate everything at the end of the season. We’ve got an important game against Fiorentina on Sunday and I really hope that the crowd don’t jeer Kalinic. I hope the whole team is supported for 95 minutes.
“Considering the way he moves and the technique he has, he’s a very important player. He has always scored goals, but perhaps we’ve not given him the right service.”
