The club released a statement condemning the attack on a team in turmoil, which missed out on a Champions League spot in the final round of the season.

According to O Jogo and A Bola, players including Argentina international midfielder Battaglia could technically ask for their contracts to be torn up as a result of the incident.

This would make them free agents and rich pickings on the transfer market.

Napoli are also interested, having targeted goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
