Lorenzo Insigne believes it is “incredible” Napoli were empty-handed with 91 points, but doubts even Maurizio Sarri knows if he’ll stay or go.

“We reached 91 points and didn’t win the Scudetto,” the striker told Sky Sport Italia after a 2-1 win over Crotone.

“It’s a pity, but I want to thank these incredible fans. Now we move on with heads held high and hopefully continue at this level, growing even more next year.

“I repeat, 91 points and finishing empty-handed is pretty incredible. This is a squad that has grown over time and that’s the important thing.”

Sarri seemed to be visibly moved as he saluted the crowd at the Stadio San Paolo, so will the Coach stay or go?

“I honestly don’t think even Sarri knows if he’s staying or not,” replied Insigne.

“He will soon meet with the President, who is right to wait for the Coach, because Sarri has improved this squad so much, even if we didn’t win.

“The Coach will make the best choice for him and go forward with head held high.”
