Mauro Icardi insists that whilst his future at Inter is out of his hands and his mind, he does hope to stay with the club.

The Argentine has been continually linked with a move away from San Siro this summer, with Monaco and Atletico Madrid named as apparently interested parties.

However, the 21-year-old has today made clear that his priority is Inter.

“I’m not looking at these things, I do my job, I train and try to score goals,” Icardi has told reporters today.

“If offers arrive then the directors will discuss it among themselves, I cannot say anything, at most I can express my personal opinion.

“I still have four years on my contract. In Milan I am fine and I do not want to go away from here.

“Atletico Madrid and Monaco are interested? The President decides with the club, I have nothing to do with it.

“If an offer comes in then they will talk about it with my agent and then he will talk with me. Now I am not thinking about the market, I want to stay calm and think about Inter.”

Tomorrow sees Inter’s preseason start in earnest with a training camp in the small Trentino town of Pinzolo in the northern Alps.

“This year a lot has changed, some great players have left and we have to start from scratch with the Coach.

“What do we lack to the top teams? There is still a long way to go until the start of the season, we want to strive to finish as high as possible.

“A tactical change to a back four? I know nothing about this, in these two days we have not even seen the ball.

“Now in Pinzolo we will begin to see what the Coach thinks and how he wants to play.

“A promise to the fans then? No, last year I was asked the same and I did not play at the start.”

Icardi was talking at the launch of Inter’s new home kit for next season.

“Every year we make it more beautiful. This one has colours that remind me of Argentina and I love it very much. It’s really nice.”

Icardi reflected on the prospective arrivals of Yann M’Vila and Dodo.

“I met M’Vila today at the hospital where we were doing some check-ups, I hope that we are both at Appiano, and also Dodo.”
