Sporting CP’s new sporting director has confirmed that goalkeeper Rui Patricio is on his way to Napoli.

Augusto Inacio’s remarks come on the same day that Portuguese newspaper A Bola went with a front page of ‘Goodbye Captain’, noting an agreement between Sporting and Napoli had been struck.

“When I arrived, it was all done,” he was quoted as saying by Corriere dello Sport.

“The negotiations are proceeding in this direction and Napoli are the club closest to signing the goalkeeper.”

The Partenopei are expected to pay €12m for the Euro 2016 winner and tie him down to a five-year contract worth €2m a season.

He would replace Pepe Reina, who is out of contract next month and lookss set to join Milan.
