Christian Maggio “wants to continue playing” and is evaluating several options, including a renewal with Napoli, said his agent.

The right-back recently turned 36 and his contract expires on June 30, but he has not yet decided on his next step.

“He expressed the desire to continue playing,” agent Massimo Briaschi told Radio CRC.

“We also received a proposal from (Napoli President Aurelio) De Laurentiis to remain and he is evaluating various things. The President was very open to a player who has been at the club for 10 years.”

Fans were irritated with Coach Maurizio Sarri for not even giving Maggio a cameo in the final game of the season against Crotone.

“It was very disappointing, as he wasn’t even able to play five minutes. Regardless of whether he remains as a player or a director, these memories of how the fans treated him will live on.

“He is evaluating the best option, but wants to continue playing.”
