Pepe Reina claims former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is worthy of coaching any team in the world, including Real Madrid.

Sarri parted ways with Napoli last week as he made way for Carlo Ancelotti after a third season with no trophies, but Reina nonetheless alerted the 58-year-old’s availability to Madrid following Zinedine Zidane’s shock decision to step down.

“Working with Sarri? It was like a show,” the goalkeeper told AS.

“He and his style of play are the biggest reasons why Napoli broke so many records in three years.

“I told him I was very grateful for his help off the field. We’re similar people. We had a father-son relationship: I love him very much and I’ll always be grateful to him.

“Would I recommend him to Madrid? I’d recommend him to any team in the world for his footballing ideas and his maniacal way of working.”

However, Los Blancos would have to pay 8m to release Sarri from his contract with the Partenopei – as Chelsea have learned.
