The Milan boss guided the Rossoneri to sixth place in Serie A last season, earning Europa League qualification.

His performance as Coach since taking over from Vincenzo Montella has been enough to earn him an extended contract at the San Siro, and he is now in the market for players who will take the Diavolo to the next level.

“The word ‘us’ has to be the key word. I don’t like the word ‘I,’” Gattuso explained when asked for the profile of player he is looking for.

“Whoever comes needs to understand they are representing a glorious club and that they are coming into a strong group that needs to raise its quality.

“In Italy, the word ‘experience’ is often mixed up with age.

“Boys who are 25 or 26 can also have experience. We are looking for young players like that who also have important matches behind them.

“Lately we have been blocked but Fassone and Mirabelli are busy with that.

“I am arranging what we need to do with them. Even my son knows what we need to do, we are hoping to bring in some important players.”

Gattuso revealed he will be going to the upcoming World Cup in order to scout out potential signings.

“I will be in Russia for some days to watch matches. More than the matches, we’ll be looking at players.

“Over these months, our added value has been the team, the desire and the mentality.

“Hopefully others will arrive with this mentality, we need it.

“Individuals can win you matches, but the team will take you all the way to the end.”

The Milan Coach expressed his hope that forwards Nikola Kalinic and Andre Silva will shine at the tournament.

“I hope that they can get back to form. Andre Silva has scored. I am sure they will get to the World Cup in great shape.

“Hopefully they can represent the club well.”
