Bernd Leno “chose Napoli before Carlo Ancelotti arrived and there is a basic agreement, but not with Bayer Leverkusen,” said his intermediary.

The goalkeeper has said he wants to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer, making him a target for Napoli, Roma and Liverpool.

“There are negotiations on-going and we are taking steps. I won’t say they are big steps, but there is progress,” intermediary Fabio Parisi told CalcioNapoli24 and Radio Marte.

“Without doubt, Leno is an objective for Napoli. I don’t think he wants to wait until after the World Cup, as he has made it clear he appreciates a Napoli move.

“We’ve already had meetings and are working on it. There is the issue of image rights, but there is a basic agreement with Leno. We discussed figures he liked.

“There isn’t an agreement with Bayern Leverkusen yet, though. We hope to get everything sorted out before the World Cup.”

It’s reported Maurizio Sarri preferred Rui Patricio of Sporting CP, but that new boss Ancelotti isn’t convinced.

“Leno chose Napoli before Ancelotti arrived. Napoli are always Napoli.”
