Udinese midfielder Emil Hallfredsson admits Massimo Oddo “didn’t believe in me”.
The central midfielder, who is going to the World Cup with Iceland, but was dropped when the former Milan man was Coach of the Zebrette.
Did he fear losing his place in Russia?
“No, never,” Hallfredsson insisted, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We’ve had the same team for years, the group is never in question, whether someone plays a little or a lot for their club.
“Then I don’t really know how we risked getting relegated with Udinese: there was fear, but I knew we’d do it.
“Oddo didn’t believe in me but I was always ready and then [Igor] Tudor gave me my chance. He has a nice character and a lot of charisma, as well as good ideas.
“I hope he stays, but in any case we’ll have to make up for it next year.”
