Marek Hamsik met with Napoli last night, reports suggest, and the captain made it clear he wants to leave the club.

However, he has admitted that he is tempted by a move to China, even if new Coach Carlo Ancelotti wants to keep him.

The Slovakian midfielder has been a mainstay at the San Paolo since arriving from Brescia in 2007, and is the club’s all-time top goalscorer.

However, he has admitted that he is tempted by a move to China, even if new Coach Carlo Ancelotti wants to keep him.

Now Sky is reporting that Hamsik and his entourage met with President Aurelio De Laurentiis and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli in Rome last night, and it was made clear that the captain wants a new challenge.

Matteo Moretto backs reports from the Corriere dello Sport that his price has been set at €30m, which could make a transfer difficult.

A Chinese club would effectively be paying €60m, as any transfer fee paid outside of China incurs a 100 per cent tax, which goes toward a player development fund.

Hamsik hasn’t ruled out a move in Europe, but it’s not clear which clubs would be willing to pay €30m for a player who turns 31 in July and is coming off a comparatively poor season.
