Napoli reportedly ended talks for Lucas Torreira after the Sampdoria midfielder made excessive wage demands, using Arsenal as leverage.
According to the Corriere del Mezzogiorno newspaper, the Partenopei were in agreement with Samp to pay the €25m release clause.
However, discussions over personal terms hit serious problems when Arsenal started to show interest, allowing the Uruguay international’s agent to hike wage demands.
It’s claimed he wanted €3m per year, which is double what Jorginho currently earns at the Stadio San Paolo.
Jorginho is in advanced negotiations for a move to Manchester City for €47m plus €6m in bonuses.
