Barcelona are reportedly furious that Inter didn’t activate their option on Rafinha, so he could join Tottenham Hotspur instead.

The midfielder joined the Nerazzurri on loan in January, and they had an option to make that move permanent for €35m.

While both club and player want a permanent deal, the Beneamata can’t afford the option before June 30 as they have to meet their Financial Fair Play obligations.

They had hoped to work out a new deal with the Blaugrana, but today Sport insists the Catalan club are furious that the option wasn’t taken up.

Barça had expected Inter to sign Rafinha permanently if they qualified for the Champions League, and were counting on that money for their own summer transfer campaign.

Rafinha’s agent and father will try to calm the waters and get a deal done, but now Tottenham Hotspur have entered the field.

Mauricio Pochettino wants reinforcements in midfield, and while the Brazilian wants Inter his club may prefer to do a deal with Spurs.
