Davide Astori might’ve suffered from an undiagnosed heart condition, as the investigation into the Fiorentina captain’s sudden death continues.

The 31-year-old went to sleep in the Udine hotel room on March 3 ahead of a Serie A match, but was found dead the next morning.

At first, it was believed he had died in his sleep from bradycardia – a condition where the heart slows to such a degree that it stops – but the autopsy and various tests now suggest otherwise.

At first, it was believed he had died in his sleep from bradycardia – a condition where the heart slows to such a degree that it stops – but the autopsy and various tests now suggest otherwise.

According to news agency Ansa, the investigators found indications that Astori suffered from a pathology and want to know if it could’ve been diagnosed earlier, perhaps saving his life.

Astori left behind his partner and their two-year-old daughter.
