After apologising to Napoli for insulting chants, the Juventus Under-15 team were crushed 5-0 by Inter in the Scudetto Final.

The semi-final caused a great deal of controversy, as Juve beat Napoli 3-0 and one of their players released a video on Instagram showing the team singing a very insulting chant towards Neapolitans.

“What happened profoundly shook our club, it made us reflect internally on what went wrong, because clearly we didn’t give our young players the right guidance or image,” said director of the Juventus youth academy Gianluca Cherubini.

“We told the FIGC that we were prepared to pull out of the Final, because we wanted to send a strong signal. The Federation recognised there was a Scudetto at stake and asked us to honour the sporting event.

“We’ll decide what action to take once the dust has settled, as it’s best not to make these decisions in the heat of the moment. What we asked and the Federation understood is that the lads must be truly aware of what happened and create a culture to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

“These issues don’t just happen in the Juve locker room, but throughout youth football and has to be stamped out. We absolutely apologise to the city of Naples and I am sure at that moment they didn’t intend to make a ‘racist’ chant.”

Inter won the title with a resounding 5-0 final victory.
